More to follow, but an initial comment:
    • The WVDOF agrees that they need help filling in the holes in areas dealing with recreation, wildlife and anything not directly related to forestry.
    • There is no recreation management plan, nor non-forestry plans.
    • Additionally, the meeting was setup to keep public comment to a minimum.
    • Over half of the lecture meeting was dedicated to a history lesson and an intermission.
    • Little of the presentation actually contained information on the plan.
    • Questions had to be submitted by notecard and follow up questions were few.

More to follow soon (since there's only 10 days to comment).

    MEETING TONIGHT!

    Tuesday Sept 13th -

A public meeting to discuss the proposed management plan for Coopers Rock is being held tonight at 6:00pm at the WestVaCo Center. If you have any interest in any outdoor activity at Coopers let the WV Dept of Forestry know!

This effects how Coopers will be managed in the future... and more importantly climbing at Coopers.

    Why this matters:
This document sets how Coopers will be managed for years to come. The rewrite has taken many years to come together and will take a long time to change if it goes into action. Your comments and support of low impact activities at Coopers is critical to keep Coopers in a unspoiled condition and available for your use.

    Why this matters:
Coopers Rock State Forest is located in the Cheat River Canyon and Snake Hill is just across the river.
This lawsuit could set a precedent for the treatment of protected land and how the Endangered Species Act is interpreted.
